Jeremy Clarkson Developing Ambitious New Show to Compete with 'The Traitors'

Jeremy Clarkson is reportedly working on a new television project that he hopes will rival the popularity of shows like "The Traitors." The presenter, known for "Clarkson's Farm," stated in recent remarks that this upcoming endeavor must be "bigger" and "unbelievably ambitious" to capture audience attention and differentiate itself in the current media environment.

Clarkson, 66, made these comments during a discussion about television production at the RTS Convention in London, alongside Jane Moore and his daughter Emily Clarkson. He indicated that following the completion of filming for the sixth series of his Amazon Prime Video program, "Clarkson's Farm," his team is focused on developing a new show with a grander scale.

"To stand out, to protect us from the onslaught from underneath (from new media), it has to be unbelievably ambitious, like, where people go: 'What the f**k are you doing? that's an incredible show!'" Clarkson explained, as reported by The Sun.

He cited "The Traitors," with its "proper celebrities" and strong format, as a benchmark for successful programming. Clarkson also suggested a potential consolidation of UK broadcasters, including the BBC, ITV, Sky, and Channel 4, into a unified entity he dubbed "Britfix." The aim, he stated, would be to produce "bigger, better and fewer programmes" to effectively compete with the vast reach of social media and online content.

Meanwhile, the second series of "Celebrity Traitors" is scheduled to return to screens on October 1. The show will feature 21 celebrities competing in a game of deception. Among the cast are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, along with Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney.

The upcoming season of "Celebrity Traitors" will include an extended opening episode and a bonus special on its launch night. Comedian Rob Beckett, who is participating in the series, described the experience of filming with familiar faces as "hilarious" and "surreal," recalling performing in small pubs nearly 20 years ago with fellow contestants Joe Lycett and James Acaster.
