Jenny Ryan, known for her role as The Vixen on the quiz show The Chase, has revealed that she recently underwent throat surgery to address issues caused by an enlarged thyroid gland. The 44-year-old ITV personality shared the news on Instagram on Friday, posting photos that displayed a noticeable scar on her neck.

Ryan explained that the procedure took place at University College Hospital in London. She stated that her thyroid gland had grown so large that it began causing problems. "My thyroid gland made a bid for fame and got so big it started causing some problems so we chopped it out," she wrote on Instagram.

She reassured fans that she is recovering well, stating, "I'm fine. Surgery was all good and the consultant is very happy. My voice still works and it's healing nicely." Ryan also expressed gratitude to the hospital staff, calling the NHS "beyond wonderful."

Fans have sent numerous messages of support, wishing her a speedy recovery. Ryan has been a Chaser on the show for nearly 11 years, and prior to her on-screen role, she contributed as a question writer for The Chase since its pilot episode in 2009.

The update comes as a new spin-off series, The Chase Around The World, is set to premiere. The show features host Bradley Walsh and the Chasers in international locations, challenging contestants with quizzes and puzzles in cities such as Rome.
