Jenny McCarthy Living in Tent Due to Mold Poisoning Detox
The television personality is undergoing a seven-month detox and experiencing paranoia, leading her to sleep in a tent in her backyard.
Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg is currently residing in a tent in her backyard as she continues a seven-month detox from mold poisoning. The television personality shared her unusual living situation on an episode of her podcast on October 29.
"Because I am paranoid now about basically sleeping anywhere, I live in a tent," McCarthy stated. "I'm not even joking." She showed a video of a tan camping tent in her backyard, which she covers with a waterproof material to shield it from "chemtrails" and sprinklers. McCarthy noted that she was not concerned about rain in California, where she appears to be residing.
McCarthy explained that she is in the seventh month of her mold detox and feels "too paranoid" to sleep anywhere else. "That's where this journey has brought me," she said. "After all of those surgeries, after being diagnosed with Mycotoxin poisoning, I feel a little bit sometimes crazy and like the walls are caving in and paranoid."
She described the experience as "really, really hard" and mentioned that individuals with mold poisoning can experience PTSD, stating she is still in the "traumatic part."
McCarthy detailed her diagnosis, which she received from a doctor in December 2025. Her initial symptom was a recurring infected root canal that caused severe swelling on the left side of her face. She also experienced constant chalazions on her eyes, requiring months of painful surgeries, along with severe skin rashes and food allergies.
"I couldn't eat anything, and I started to get SIBO [Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth]," McCarthy claimed. "That means whenever you eat, your stomach blows up."
Following her diagnosis, McCarthy has been taking numerous vitamins and supplements. Her home has undergone a mold remediation process, which she stated cost tens of thousands of dollars and involved specialists. She also noted that the process required discarding furniture and clothing.
This disclosure comes weeks after she and her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, listed their Illinois home for $2.8 million in September. The couple had owned the four-bedroom residence for over a decade.
