Jennifer Lopez is embracing the bittersweet transition to an empty nest, recently sharing an emotional Instagram post documenting a "road trip" through Italy with her 18-year-old twins, Max and Oskar, before they head off to college.

"Road tripping with my coconuts before they head off to college," Lopez, 57, captioned the sentimental post, accompanied by a crying emoji. The family's Italian getaway served as a final hurrah before the twins move out, marking a significant shift for the singer who has described her bond with her children as a constant.

The singer shared a series of selfies and candid snapshots from their travels across Italy. One photo featured Lopez with her children, both of whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. In the images, Max flashed a peace sign while Oskar leaned out from behind his mother's shoulder.

Oskar, who previously came out as transgender at his high school graduation, is reportedly preparing to attend Sarah Lawrence College in the fall. Both twins have reportedly been accepted into all five colleges they applied to and received scholarships for each institution, a fact Lopez highlighted with immense pride.

"I am so proud that they set goals for themselves," Lopez stated, emphasizing the twins' hard work and dedication to their studies. She noted that they have ADHD, requiring them to "learn differently," and acknowledged the challenges they overcame. "I just felt like they work so hard," she added. "I watched how hard they worked... and they did what they said they were going to do, and they're good people."

Lopez has openly expressed her emotions about this impending milestone. During an appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," she described it as an "emotional time," reflecting on the decades of her life centered around her twins. "It's been the three of us... They've always been there, and I've always been there," she shared, admitting she had not previously considered a future where they wouldn't be a constant presence.

Earlier this year, while on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Lopez confessed to crying for months in anticipation of the graduation and the subsequent departure for college. She also mentioned the difficulty she had writing yearbook messages for her children, a process that took two days due to her tears.

In preparation for becoming an empty nester, Lopez has reportedly downsized, purchasing a $18 million mansion in Hidden Hills, California. She also retains ownership of her former marital home with ex-husband Ben Affleck, a $61 million mansion. The couple, who were married for two years, finalized their divorce in early 2025 and have been attempting to sell their former marital home since July 2024.
