Jennifer Lawrence Sparks Debate Over 'Unrecognizable' Photoshoot and Cosmetic Surgery
The actress's recent magazine cover has ignited discussions about altered appearances, with fans and a plastic surgeon weighing in.
Jennifer Lawrence's latest magazine feature has drawn significant attention, not for her acting prowess, but for her seemingly altered facial appearance. The cover image for the October/November 2026 edition of The Cut has led many fans to question if the star has undergone cosmetic procedures, with some stating they would not recognize her.
Amidst the online speculation, Dr. Melinda Lacerna Kimbrell, a plastic surgeon at LA Plastic Surgery, offered her professional assessment. Dr. Kimbrell suggested that the most noticeable changes appear to be around Lawrence's eyes, noting increased upper-lid visibility and brow elevation that could indicate an upper blepharoplasty, possibly combined with a brow lift and lateral eye lift. She also observed that Lawrence's midface seemed higher, potentially due to fat grafting, though the area beneath her cheekbones appeared hollow.
Dr. Kimbrell also speculated that significant weight loss could have contributed to Lawrence's current look, resulting in a narrower, more angular face. The surgeon noted the actress's complexion appeared exceptionally smooth, which could be consistent with laser skin resurfacing, but cautioned that lighting, makeup, and retouching could significantly enhance such effects. The addition of long hair extensions was also cited as a factor that could alter facial proportions.
While some fans defended Lawrence, attributing any perceived changes to makeup and lighting, others expressed disappointment. In the same interview with The Cut, Lawrence, a mother of two sons, admitted to having a breast augmentation after breastfeeding and revealed plans for a facelift, stating her desire to be a "sexy mom" who looks put-together. Previously, she told Vogue that she gets small doses of Botox, referred to as "baby Botox," to maintain facial movement, and relies on facials for a dewy complexion. She also mentioned a desire for buccal fat removal, but stated she could not pursue it as it would be too noticeable.
Lawrence's representatives have not yet commented on the recent speculation.
