Jennifer Garner was observed on a solo outing in Brentwood, wearing a white shirt emblazoned with the phrase "Maman Je T'aime," which translates to "I love you mom." The actress, 54, made the appearance over the weekend, approximately two months after the death of her ex-husband Ben Affleck's mother, Chris Anne, who passed away on June 2 at the age of 83 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Garner kept her attire casual for the daytime excursion, pairing the "Maman Je T'aime" shirt with white and blue-striped pants and white sandals. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and she wore sunglasses. She was seen carrying a large tote bag while browsing a farmer's market and later heading to her next destination.
Chris Anne Affleck's passing was revealed by her family in an obituary, noting that she had been informed by doctors in December that she had six months to live. Her last wish was to witness her grandson's high school graduation, which she attended on May 31, two days before her passing. She is survived by her sons, Ben and Casey Affleck, and five grandchildren.
Garner and Ben Affleck were married from 2005 to 2018 and share three children: Violet, Fin, and Samuel. Despite their divorce, Garner and Chris Anne Affleck maintained a close bond. Chris Anne reportedly stayed with Garner and her children in 2018 when Ben Affleck was undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation facility, and she also celebrated Thanksgiving with the family at Garner's home late last year.
Chris Anne Affleck also attended her son's 2022 wedding to Jennifer Lopez, reportedly experiencing a leg injury the day before but still witnessing the ceremony. She officially retired from teaching in 2008 but remained active in various social causes. Ben Affleck previously spoke about his mother's parenting, telling E! News in 2016, "I just marvel at my mother who did a great job of raising my brother and I." He also referred to Garner as a "superhero mom."
Garner also maintains a close relationship with her own mother, Patricia, 87. The pair celebrated Easter together in April, and Patricia has appeared on Garner's social media. Garner commented on her mother's involvement in her cooking show, telling People in March, "She's so funny. She loves it. She loves being recognized. She loves when people say hi to her." Garner's father passed away in 2024 at the age of 85.
In recent professional endeavors, Garner has been seen on the set of the upcoming Netflix reboot of "13 Going On 30," a film she starred in originally in 2004. She is an executive producer on the project, which includes stars like Judy Greer, Emily Bader, Adeline Rudolph, Logan Lerman, Jessica Alba, Taylor Ortega, Tim Meadows, and Dan Bucatinsky. Garner also recently took on a role in the Peacock series "The Five Star Weekend," which premiered on July 9 and is based on Elin Hilderbrand's 2023 novel.
