Jenna Dewan's Fiancé Defends Her Amid 'DWTS' Chemistry Rumors

Jenna Dewan’s fiancé, Steve Kazee, has publicly addressed rumors of romantic chemistry between Dewan and her "Dancing with the Stars" partner, Val Chmerkovskiy. Kazee commented on an Instagram video that accused the pair of being overly "too touchy" during a recent episode of the competition.

"They don’t have chemistry. They have too much chemistry. They have chemistry in the wrong places. Make up your minds," Kazee wrote. He added, "Y’all really got too much time on your hands. The spouses are unbothered stay hatin."

In a follow-up comment on the same post, Kazee urged the creator of the video to "put some respect on my queens name and at least pronounce her name correctly when you try to slander her."

Dewan and Chmerkovskiy performed a rumba to Mariah Carey's "It's Like That" during the episode in question. "DWTS" judge Carrie Ann Inaba also weighed in on the speculation, commenting under the video, "Dancers are physical beings. This is like the way we say hello. Don’t try to turn it into something it is not. Have some respect for both Jenna and Val and their partners please."

Chmerkovskiy is married to fellow "DWTS" pro dancer Jenna Johnson, with whom he shares a son. Dewan and Kazee, who began dating in 2018 and became engaged in 2020, have two children together, and Dewan also has a daughter from her previous marriage to Channing Tatum.

This is not the first controversy Dewan has faced since joining "DWTS." Some viewers have questioned her casting due to her extensive background in professional dance. Dewan, who was a backup dancer for Janet Jackson and starred in the dance film "Step Up," has stated that while her past training is helpful, ballroom dancing requires a different technique that she is still learning.

Dewan and Chmerkovskiy remain in the competition. The show airs Tuesdays on ABC and streams on Disney+ and Hulu.
