Jenna Dewan Achieves Highest Score on 'Dancing with the Stars' as Fan Favorite Exits

Jenna Dewan reached a new season high on "Dancing with the Stars" during week five's Super Bowl-themed episode, while fan-favorite Guillermo Rodriguez was eliminated.

Dewan, 45, and her professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy earned their highest score to date for their paso doble performance to Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." They shared the top score of the night with Paralympian Ezra Frech and his partner Daniella Karagach, who received perfect nines for their salsa to Nelly's "Hot in Herre."

Despite the high scores for some, the night saw the departure of Guillermo Rodriguez, known for his work on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and his partner Witney Carson. They finished at the bottom of the leaderboard for the week, receiving a score of 22 out of 40.

Rodriguez and Carson performed a salsa to Bad Bunny's "Tití Me Preguntó." Their routine began with Rodriguez reclining on a sofa, fanned by dancers, before he began lip-syncing. Carson, who is pregnant and announced it in August, wore a crimson suit that showcased her baby bump.

Judges offered mixed reviews. Derek Hough described the dance as "so entertaining" and "so much fun," praising Carson's aerial split and Rodriguez's stage presence. Guest judge Joe Buck, a sportscaster, playfully referenced Conan O'Brien's sidekick Andy Richter, stating, "Andy Richter walked so Guillermo could run!" Bruno Tonioli offered a more general comment, noting that the performance gave the judges "plenty to think about." Carrie Ann Inaba acknowledged Carson as a "testament to the woman who can do it all" and teased Rodriguez about his previous critiques of her scoring, but ultimately praised his performance in what was his most challenging routine yet.

Ultimately, Rodriguez and Carson's score, combined with viewer votes, was not enough to keep them in the competition. They found themselves in the bottom two alongside Tyler Cameron and Sharna Burgess before their elimination was announced.
