Jenelle Evans, known for her role in the reality television series 'Teen Mom 2,' is facing public scrutiny for her decision to homeschool her two younger children. In a video shared on her Instagram account, Evans, 34, stated that she is not directly teaching the children but rather facilitating their learning through a computer-based program.
Evans explained that the transition from public school to homeschooling was prompted by several factors. One significant reason was to address the bullying her 12-year-old son, Kaiser, experienced at school, which she noted had previously occurred in different locations and was often related to his weight. "I was sick of it," Evans said.
Another contributing factor to her decision is her recent diagnosis of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a chronic pain condition that developed after knee surgery earlier this year. Evans stated that her condition prevents her from driving the children to and from school, a commute that she described as taking up to three hours daily for drop-offs and pick-ups. "So I literally cannot drive them to and from school because I am literally in too much pain," she explained.
Evans also expressed a desire to shield her children from negative influences, stating she does not want "any craziness being instilled inside their head." Additionally, she highlighted the flexibility homeschooling offers, allowing her children to travel with her if she needs to.
She reported that the first week of homeschooling has been successful, with the children completing their schoolwork within two hours. Evans mentioned the program they are using is called Acellus, adding, "So far? No complaints."
Social media reactions to Evans' announcement have been mixed. Some followers have criticized her approach, questioning her qualifications and the effectiveness of the educational method. Others have expressed support, with some sharing their own positive homeschooling experiences and suggesting resources for socialization through extracurricular activities.
One commenter noted that homeschooling might be different from what Evans described, suggesting it sounded more like remote learning, which became prevalent after the COVID-19 pandemic. Another follower suggested enrolling children in extracurricular activities to facilitate social interaction.
Evans is a mother to three children: Jace, 17, with ex-boyfriend Andrew Lewis; Kaiser, 12, with ex-boyfriend Nathan Griffith; and Ensley, 9, with estranged husband David Eason. Her divorce from Eason was finalized in July 2025. Earlier this year, Jace reportedly spent time in a mental health facility after an incident involving a firearm and his grandmother, Barbara Evans. He is said to be living with his grandmother again.
Evans shared an update on Jace in April, stating he was receiving help and was in a "safe place" with a holistic approach, focusing on himself and being happy.
