Jen Shah is nearing the end of her federal sentence for fraud charges, with her release from home confinement scheduled for Friday, August 28. After serving 33 months in federal prison, Shah has spent the last eight months under home confinement. Her official release date from the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is listed as August 30, but BOP policy allows for releases on the preceding weekday when a sentence end date falls on a weekend.
Shah, 52, had been serving her sentence in home confinement with an ankle monitor since her December 2025 transfer from the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas. She was incarcerated in February 2023 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Her initial arrest occurred in March 2021.
In January 2023, Shah received a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence. She was also ordered to forfeit $6.5 million and pay up to another $6.5 million in restitution to victims of the telemarketing fraud scheme. Her projected sentence was reduced multiple times prior to her transfer to community confinement overseen by the BOP's Phoenix Residential Reentry Management Office.
According to a representative, Shah expressed gratitude for the timing of her release, viewing it as an opportunity to reunite with her family for the holidays. The representative also stated that Shah had engaged in significant reflection and personal growth during her incarceration, and was focused on rebuilding her life and demonstrating the woman she has become.
Shah has publicly acknowledged her wrongdoing, stating in a previous interview that she made wrong decisions and took full responsibility for her actions. She described her involvement in the scheme as a result of poor business decisions and a disregard for warning signs, having initially believed it was a legitimate enterprise. Shah is married to college football coach Sharrieff Shah, and they have two sons.
