Country music star Jelly Roll took aim at former President Donald Trump's weight, physical fitness, and approval ratings during his guest-hosting stint on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Monday.

During his opening monologue, Jelly Roll, who has previously stated he is not political, referenced Trump's appearance at Washington's Freedom 250 Grand Prix and a recent physical examination. "Well, Mr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. And trust me, you’ll be happy to see your penis again," Jelly Roll said. He added, "It’s crazy. Think about this, y’all. In the last few years, I’ve lost 300 pounds. That means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump."

Jelly Roll also commented on Trump's approval ratings, stating, "And let’s be honest, based on his approval ratings, it seems like most of the country wants to do the same thing." A Reuters/Ipsos survey released the previous week placed Trump's approval at 33%, which tied the lowest approval rating across both of his terms, according to Fox News Digital.

The country singer's remarks marked a notable shift from his previous apolitical stance. Following the Grammy Awards in February, Jelly Roll declined to offer immediate opinions on the nation's political climate, questioning why people sought his views. He described himself as a "dumb redneck" who hadn't watched enough or had a phone for a significant period. This approach also contrasted with his response after meeting Trump at UFC 309 in 2024, when he defended the encounter, stating his family taught him to honor the office of the president regardless of the occupant.

Before delving into the jokes about Trump, Jelly Roll discussed Trump's attendance at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix. Trump and former first lady Melania Trump completed an honorary lap in the presidential limousine before Trump waved the green flag to start the race. "The president seemed to enjoy the IndyCar race, which was a real switch up for him, because normally he only likes his own race," Jelly Roll quipped.

He addressed potential criticism regarding his jokes, saying, "Some folks online were upset that I didn't treat the president with reverence and dignity. But I want to remind ya'll that I go by the name Jelly Roll. I don't even treat myself with reverence and dignity." He asserted that the president should be able to "handle a few jokes."
