Musician Jelly Roll and podcast host Bunnie Xo have finalized their divorce, reaching a settlement earlier this month. The terms of the agreement were not fully disclosed, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Jelly Roll, whose legal name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce from Bunnie Xo, legally known as Alisa DeFord, on May 18 in Williamson County, Tennessee. The couple, who were married in August 2016, were nearing their 10th wedding anniversary.
DeFord cited "irreconcilable differences" as the grounds for the split, stating in his filing that they were "unable to live together successfully as husband and wife." He listed the date of separation as May 9, 2026. Court documents indicated that the couple had accumulated marital property and debts throughout their marriage and anticipated a Marital Dissolution Agreement to divide assets and allocate responsibility for debts.
News of the divorce emerged on June 15, with moving trucks seen at the couple's Franklin home the same day. A month after the initial filing, Bunnie Xo discussed the divorce on her "Dumb Blonde Podcast." She described the divorce proceedings as amicable, stating they were settling the divorce in a matter of weeks and that Jelly Roll would be financially supporting her and allowing her to keep their home.
Bunnie Xo attributed the marital difficulties to disagreements, noting that she and Jelly Roll had "never really been good at having disagreements." She mentioned a final argument on Mother's Day, May 10, which prompted her to encourage DeFord to file for divorce, although she expressed regret for saying it out of anger.
She also revealed that their IVF journey had taken a toll on both of them physically and emotionally but confirmed they are "still having a baby together." Both parties stated that neither cheated on the other, though Bunnie Xo acknowledged infidelity early in their marriage before Jelly Roll became sober.
Jelly Roll, a Grammy winner, also addressed the divorce during a concert stop in Saratoga Springs, New York, echoing Bunnie Xo's statements that there was no infidelity and calling her his "best friend for life."
Hints of trouble in the relationship had surfaced prior to the divorce announcement. Jelly Roll had been seen without his wedding ring and had removed Bunnie Xo from his social media pages. Bunnie Xo had also posted cryptic messages on social media referencing "trash" exes and "getting her sparkle back."
The couple had renewed their vows in August 2023 in Las Vegas. Recently, Bunnie Xo was observed with actor Dylan Wolf, and she stated that Jelly Roll had "no issue at all" with her public affection towards Wolf.
Jelly Roll, who has spoken openly about his past criminal history and homelessness before meeting Bunnie Xo in August 2015, has often credited her with saving his life. He has undergone a significant physical transformation and returned to his Christian faith in recent years. He has two children from previous relationships.
