JD Vance's Wife Calls Secret Service Detail for Newborn 'Absurd'
Second Lady Usha Vance stated that their 2-month-old son has a Secret Service detail, which she believes is unnecessary.
Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, has described the Secret Service detail assigned to their 2-month-old son as an "absurdity." She noted in a recent interview that unlike previous newborns in their family, their youngest child, Alec, has a protective detail.
"He has a Secret Service detail. None of our newborns had that before," Usha Vance told the Daily Wire. "It’s sort of an absurdity because he’s always attached to me."
She added that the baby "is never anywhere far from me."
Usha and JD Vance, who married in June 2014, welcomed their fourth child, Alec Neel Vance, on July 19. The couple released a statement at the time expressing gratitude for the medical staff at Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit. They also have three other children: sons Ewan, 9, and Vivek, 6, and daughter Mirabel, 4.
News of Usha Vance's fourth pregnancy emerged following speculation about a potential divorce after she was photographed without her wedding ring. A spokesperson clarified that the absence of the ring was due to her active parenting duties, stating, "She is a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes."
