Beverly Vance, mother of Vice President JD Vance, said she was unaware that pop star Taylor Swift had referenced her son's past "childless cat ladies" comment when Swift endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz during the 2024 campaign. Swift's endorsement post included a photo of herself with a cat.

"I had no idea that's what she was even doing. Until you just said that, I didn't even put the two together," Beverly Vance said during a recent appearance on OutKick's "Tomi Lahren is Fearless." She added with a laugh, "So that's funny."

The remark in question was made by JD Vance in 2021 during an interview with Tucker Carlson when he was a Senate candidate. He stated that Democrats were "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

Beverly Vance described her son's comment as a joke, emphasizing his sense of humor. "I just thought it was funny," she said. "JD's just got a sense of humor and you know he was making a joke and obviously people didn't take it as a joke, but you know, I know JD and he just meant it as a joke."

The Vice President himself acknowledged the comment was a mistake in his book. Swift's endorsement of Harris and Walz, which included the cat photo, became a talking point during the 2024 presidential campaign.
