Republican National Committee (RNC) fundraising texts attributed to Senator JD Vance have reportedly acknowledged the current high cost of groceries. The message, sent to the RNC's mailing list, stated, "Groceries cost what they cost," according to reports.

This statement comes just days after Vance spoke at a rally in his hometown of Middletown, Ohio, where he said, "We're finally seeing that American dream of homeownership become accessible again to our young people." The reported fundraising text also included a survey and a link to a letter allegedly from Vance, which stated, "I want to start by apologizing to you. Not for anything I’ve done — for what this business has done to you. I’m sorry for the countdown clocks that expire at midnight and reset by morning."

The letter continued to solicit donations, with Vance reportedly writing, "I’m not going to make you feel guilty over a number. But if you want to back it up, I’d be honored to earn it — and you ought to be able to see exactly where it goes. That’s the receipt above. Itemized. No fine print."

The RNC has not immediately confirmed the authenticity of the text message. However, multiple news outlets reported on the message and the accompanying letter. The RNC faced criticism online following reports of the fundraising text. Former President Donald Trump has previously dismissed concerns about affordability, calling the issue a "scam" created by Democrats, despite a majority of Americans reportedly disapproving of his handling of the economy.
