Jaylen Watson's Shoulder Harness: A Secret Weapon for a Swift Rams Return

Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jaylen Watson is aiming for a surprisingly quick return to the field for Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills, less than two weeks after suffering a dislocated shoulder. Watson is back on the practice field wearing a protective harness designed to limit his range of motion and prevent re-injury.

Watson suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Rams' Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos. The typical recovery time for a dislocated shoulder, according to medical sources, can range from several weeks to a few months, involving immobilization and rehabilitation.

However, Watson has experience with playing through a similar injury. He revealed that he dislocated his shoulder in college and returned to play the following week, though he acknowledged not feeling at full strength. "It's just a harness," Watson said of the equipment. "It has some restrictions, so I won't have full range of motion and risk hurting it again."

Rams coach Sean McVay indicated that Watson's potential return depends on how he feels during practice and with the harness. "We'll get a little shoulder harness out there, [see] how he's going to be able to block destruct," McVay stated.

Watson participated in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, positioning himself for a potential return. "Yeah, if everything's on track, of course," Watson said when asked if playing against Buffalo was realistic. "That's the goal."

The final decision rests with the Rams' medical staff, but Watson's proactive approach with the harness signals his determination to rejoin the team in a crucial matchup against the Bills and quarterback Josh Allen. The team could benefit from the addition of another cornerback willing to tackle the challenge.
