Jaylen Brown Reacts to Jayson Tatum's Trade Comments

Jaylen Brown has seemingly responded to his former Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum's remarks about his offseason trade to the Philadelphia 76ers. Tatum had stated in a YouTube interview that he was blindsided by the trade, learning about it from ESPN insider Shams Charania after a pickup game in Las Vegas.

Tatum recounted the moment, saying, "Shams walks over, he hands me the towel. He’s like, ‘Yo, put this over your face. Don’t react. They just traded him.’ I said, ‘We traded him down the street?’"

In response to a clip of Tatum's interview shared online, Brown posted a cap emoji, a gesture that often implies disbelief or that someone is not telling the whole truth.

Speaking about their nearly decade-long partnership with the Celtics, Tatum expressed admiration for Brown's commitment. "Every time I stepped on the court, that’s when it was time to go to war," Tatum said. "I looked to my left and my right, and No. 7 was over there, I knew that he was going to do everything it took for us to try to win. The way we pushed each other, I definitely made him better, and he made me better. And we made our team better, we made the organization better. We won a championship. We are forever stitched in stone in NBA history. We held up that trophy. It won’t ever be forgotten."

Following the news of Brown's trade, Charania had reported that while Tatum and Brown were effective on the court, their personal relationship had become minimal over the past year. At his introductory press conference with the 76ers, Brown indicated that he and Tatum had "not really" spoken since the trade was finalized.

Brown and Tatum achieved significant success together in Boston, winning the 2024 NBA championship and reaching the Finals in 2022. They also led the Celtics to the playoffs every season during their nine years as teammates.
