Jayden Daniels to Travel with Commanders for London Game Despite Elbow Injury
Quarterback Jayden Daniels is expected to join the Washington Commanders on their trip to London, fueling speculation about a potential early return from a dislocated elbow.
Jayden Daniels is set to travel with the Washington Commanders to London for their Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, signaling potential progress in his recovery from a dislocated elbow. The quarterback suffered the injury during the Commanders' Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on September 20.
Daniels dislocated his left elbow when he stumbled and attempted to brace his fall, with his non-throwing elbow buckling. He was sidelined for the Commanders' subsequent 33-31 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. While his travel with the team and expected participation in practice ahead of the Sunday game against the Colts, to be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, have raised hopes, it does not guarantee his return to the starting lineup.
Washington head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Daniels' travel plans and expressed enthusiasm for his return to the practice field. "That would be him, for sure, yes. But to his credit, he's been absolutely putting in the work," Quinn stated. "I am excited to get him back out on the practice field."
Quinn had previously confirmed the dislocation after the game against the Cowboys, noting that X-rays did not reveal any fractures. This injury is to the same elbow Daniels sustained last November, an injury that previously kept him out for a month and was later aggravated when he attempted to play again.
In his two games this season, Daniels has completed 29 of 51 passes for 260 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Marcus Mariota started Sunday's win against the Seahawks and is currently slated to be the starting quarterback for the London game.
