Jayden Daniels Out for Commanders' Week 4 Game in London

The Washington Commanders will be without their starting quarterback, Jayden Daniels, for their Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts in London. Daniels has been sidelined with a dislocated left elbow, marking his second consecutive missed game. Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the decision on Friday.

"We’ll assess where we are next week when he gets a full week of practice all the way through," Quinn said. "But typical for him, working incredibly hard to get back, doing everything that he can behind the scenes to go do that as fast as he can. He is a true competitor on and off the field."

Marcus Mariota is set to make his second straight start in Daniels' absence. In the Commanders' Week 3 victory over the Seattle Seahawks, Mariota completed 19 of 31 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Daniels participated in practices this week with a brace on his left arm. He indicated that while he experienced no issues with basic movements such as taking snaps or handing off the ball, the brace inhibited his ability to fully extend his arm. This injury marks the second time in less than a year that Daniels has dislocated his elbow.

Last season, Daniels missed four games after injuring the same elbow in Week 9. The injury resurfaced upon his return, leading the Commanders to shut him down for the remainder of the season. Despite the history of recurrence, Daniels expressed confidence in his ability to return, stating, "If I had that concern, then I would’ve got surgery."
