Jayden Daniels Cleared to Play, Commanders Face Giants
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will return for Sunday's Week 5 game against the New York Giants after an elbow injury.
Jayden Daniels is set to return to the field for the Washington Commanders' Week 5 matchup against the New York Giants. Offensive coordinator David Blough confirmed Daniels is "full go" for the game.
Daniels, 25, has been sidelined for the past two weeks due to an injury to his non-throwing elbow, sustained during the Commanders' Week 2 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The injury aggravated a previous dislocation in the same elbow from the prior season.
Daniels was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and will wear a brace for the remainder of the season, a device he stated will not limit his play.
The Commanders selected Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In his rookie 2024 season, he recorded 3,568 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl and Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
Washington currently holds a 1-3 record and sits at the bottom of the NFC East. Head coach Dan Quinn expressed confidence in his team, acknowledging the impact of injuries.
"It is difficult to overcome some of the injuries, but I’m certain these are the right guys to battle and fight for it," Quinn said. "And so I do think they are one of the more connected groups I’ve been around. That will be really important to move us forward as we’re heading into a big division game."
