Jaxson Dart Undergoes Knee Surgery, Eyes Playoff Return

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is undergoing knee surgery today to repair damage to the MCL, PCL, and meniscus in his left knee. League sources report that Dart is targeting a return within four to six months, with head coach John Harbaugh not ruling out his availability for the playoffs.

Dart's approach to rehabilitation is drawing comparisons to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' recovery from a similar injury last year. Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who coached Mahomes in Kansas City, noted Dart's determined mindset.

"I went through it last year with the quarterback I was with, and you got to see how he attacked that from the very next day, and that’s what Jaxson’s going to do," Nagy said. "I mean, I just saw him over there, and he kind of mentioned he’s ready to go right now. He’s kidding. He wants to be out there."

Nagy added, "But it’s just who he is. It’s a part of his journey. This will make him stronger, and we’ve just got to be there for him, and we’ve got to understand that what he did up until this point has been good. So now, when he does get back, whenever that is, it’s going to be a beautiful thing."

Mahomes has been performing at an MVP level for the Chiefs, who currently hold a 2-0 record to start the 2026 season.
