New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is anticipated to experience a breakout season in terms of rushing success during the 2026 NFL season. This projection comes despite oddsmakers setting his rushing yardage line lower than his previous season's performance.

Dart, who emerged as an effective dual-threat quarterback for the Giants in his rookie year, showed flashes of his potential, particularly with his legs. He led the Giants to their first win of the season over the Chargers, contributing 54 scrimmage yards on four carries. Although his season was cut short by a concussion in Week 10, which led to questions about the team's strategy of utilizing designed runs behind a struggling offensive line, Dart demonstrated resilience. In the final five games he played, he recorded double-digit scrimmage yards in all but one and surpassed 40 yards in two contests.

Several factors are contributing to the expectations for Dart's rushing game in 2026. The return of sensational talent Malik Nabers as a primary target, whom Dart did not have a full season to develop chemistry with in 2025, is expected to offer more passing opportunities. Additionally, the return of running back Cam Skattebo from injury could absorb some of the more physically demanding carries.

Under new head coach John Harbaugh, who is known for implementing a power-running offense similar to his successful tenure in Baltimore, Dart's mobility is likely to be a key component. Dart proved to be a careful ball-handler during his rookie season, throwing only five interceptions and fumbling five times in 12 starts. He also ranked fourth among NFL quarterbacks in scrambles per dropback at 9.5 percent, and was the top-ranked quarterback in EPA when operating outside the pocket.

Sportsbooks have set Dart's rushing yardage line at 449.5 for the upcoming season, a decrease from the yardage he achieved in a season where he started only 12 games. Despite this projection, the analysis suggests that Dart has the potential to exceed this mark, particularly with the strategic utilization of his dual-threat capabilities by the new coaching staff.
