New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart will undergo season-ending surgery after suffering a knee injury during Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams. The injury, which has ruled Dart out for the remainder of the 2026 season, has cast a shadow over his future with the team.
An MRI revealed that Dart sustained damage to his MCL, PCL, and meniscus, though fortunately, his ACL remains intact. This marks a significant setback for the young quarterback, who has now played in only 16 games over his first two NFL seasons.
The uncertain outlook has led to speculation about Dart's viability as the Giants' long-term signal-caller. Former Giants star Tiki Barber expressed his concerns on WFAN’s “Evan and Tiki,” noting that the injury creates a "question mark massive bubble" for Dart's return. Barber emphasized the harsh reality of the NFL, where performance and availability are paramount.
"It is a ‘What have you done for me now?’ business, and you can get replaced like that … I’m not sugarcoating the reality that Jaxson Dart might not be the guy," Barber stated. He highlighted that the team's decision on Dart's fifth-year option will be made without seeing him play for the remainder of the season.
While Barber's comments reflect a pragmatic view of the league, they echo broader concerns among fans and analysts regarding the Giants' quarterback situation.
