Jaxson Dart Faces Potential Season-Ending Surgery After Knee Injury Worsens

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery after further tests revealed his injury is worse than first feared.

Dart sustained the injury on the opening drive of the Giants' loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. He immediately grabbed at his knee after being hit by Rams defenders Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart while attempting a pass.

Initial diagnoses indicated a sprained MCL, with a projected absence of up to four weeks. However, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that additional testing has yielded the most serious outcome.

"Further testing today revealed Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s knee injury is worse than initially thought, and the team and Dart now are facing the possibility of season-ending knee surgery, sources tell ESPN," Schefter posted on X. "Of all the QB injuries suffered in Week 2, Dart’s is turning out to easily be the most significant."

Dart made his way back to the locker room under his own power.
