Java Factory Launches Flavor 52 Campaign, Turning Ice Cream Nostalgia into Coffee
The coffee brand aims to set a Guinness World Record by releasing a new flavor each week for a year, featuring collaborations with iconic ice cream brands.
Java Factory is embarking on an ambitious year-long initiative called Flavor 52, designed to transform beloved ice cream truck treats into coffee flavors and potentially set a Guinness World Record for the most unique coffee flavors launched by a single brand within a year. The campaign will introduce a new flavor every week for 52 weeks, organized into themed seasons.
Ice Cream Truck Flavors and Collaborations
The second season of the Flavor 52 campaign, themed "Ice Cream Truck," features collaborations with well-known ice cream brands. These partnerships include flavors inspired by Creamsicle, Breyers, Klondike, Popsicle, and Good Humor. The brand is working with Flavor & Fragrance Specialties (FFS), a division of Lucta, to develop these new flavor concepts.
Steven Schrieber, President of Java Factory, stated that while categories like ice cream, snacks, and candy have seen constant innovation through limited-edition flavors and collaborations, the coffee industry has lagged. Flavor 52 aims to bring that same level of creativity, collectibility, and excitement to flavored coffee.
Developing these flavors involves capturing the essence of popular desserts in coffee form, aiming for a sensory experience that balances aroma, taste, and nostalgia. For instance, the Creamsicle flavor seeks to evoke the combination of orange, vanilla, and sweetness associated with the classic treat.
Campaign Details and Consumer Involvement
Season 2 includes nine weeks of flavors, running until October 19th. Among these are Creamsicle, Breyers Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Sticky Situation, Klondike Original, Raspberry Italian Ice, Popsicle Firecracker, Good Humor Chocolate Éclair, and Good Humor Toasted Almond. Sticky Situation and Raspberry Italian Ice are original creations by Java Factory. Following this season will be "Sweater Weather."
The Flavor 52 campaign is scheduled to conclude at the 2027 Summer Fancy Food Show with the release of the final flavor. Java Factory is encouraging consumer participation by allowing customers to try each new flavor and vote on which ones they would like to see remain in the product line. Customers can engage by trying individual flavors, subscribing seasonally, or signing up for all 52 offerings, ranking each flavor's success in capturing the experience of a favorite dessert.
