Jasper Carrott, father of actress Lucy Davis, has spoken about his pride in his daughter following her public announcement of an incurable cancer diagnosis. "We are so proud of our daughter and love her so much," Carrott stated, adding that her resilience through various health challenges has been an inspiration. He conveyed that the family is "hopeful for her future being what she wants it to be" and is offering support.
Davis, 53, revealed on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer that has metastasized to her bones, including her spine, right hip, and ribs. She shared that the cancer is incurable and that it is "too late for chemo." Davis discovered a "tiny, hard spot" in her breast about a year and a half ago and nearly didn't seek medical attention, urging others to get any concerning changes checked. Despite the diagnosis, she expressed being "at peace with whatever comes next" and is focused on living the remainder of her life as enjoyably as possible, finding teachable moments in the experience.
Known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in Ricky Gervais's comedy series The Office, Davis also appeared in the film Wonder Woman and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. She acknowledged that pain can be significant, sometimes requiring a wheelchair, but emphasized the importance of humor and being treated as a healthy individual rather than a sick one. Davis stated she is not afraid of what lies ahead, viewing the transition from her physical body as "going home."
She intends to continue her advocacy work for animal rights and pursue acting, which she described as a significant joy. Davis also conveyed her well wishes to others on a similar journey, acknowledging the profound physical and mental toll of cancer. The actress has a history of health issues, including a kidney transplant in 1997 and treatment for kidney failure in 2005, as well as openly discussing her past struggles with bulimia.
