Jason Kelce playfully chided his ESPN colleague Marcus Spears on air Monday for missing his brother Travis Kelce's wedding to pop superstar Taylor Swift this past summer. The wedding, a star-studded event held at Madison Square Garden on July 3, drew major figures from sports and entertainment.
During his analysis on Monday Night Football, Kelce, who served as Travis's best man, pointed out Spears among his fellow ESPN analysts Scott Van Pelt and Pat McAfee. "There wasn't another person on the desk invited, but he did no show us," Kelce said, gesturing towards Spears. "I still don't really know why."
Spears, however, quickly offered an explanation. "That's on me," he responded. "Family obligation with my son. You know, he got a lot of stuff going on."
Kelce then turned back to the ceremony, describing it as a remarkable gathering. "So many awesome people. Obviously, all walks of life: football world, celebrity world, singers from Nashville, actors, actresses, people that we grew up in Cleveland Heights. The melting pot of individuals," he recounted. "It was insane, and the ceremony was gorgeous. They did such an incredible job. Adam Sandler officiated it in a very Adam Sandler, beautiful way."
Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, is entering his 14th NFL season. He recently spoke about his wedding on the "New Heights" podcast with Jason, sharing details about the celebration. "At this point we are what one month out, it's been so much fun," Travis said. "It was insane, it was a night I'll never forget. Me and Taylor are so thankful for everybody that showed up. From the vows to seeing everyone, and how much fun we had that evening, and hearing that being relived through everyone's stories of that night. It was just magical man."
Kelce also joked that some guests had to be ushered out of the venue when they tried to extend the festivities. The wedding guest list reportedly included notable names such as Selena Gomez, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, and Tom Hanks, among many of Travis's teammates. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
