Jason Kelce Criticized for Dominating NFL Broadcast Booth
Viewers react to former Eagles player's extensive commentary during London game, overshadowing co-analyst Kurt Warner.
Jason Kelce drew criticism from viewers for his prominent role in the NFL Network broadcast booth during the Philadelphia Eagles' game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Kelce, in his second assignment for the network's International Series, joined play-by-play announcer Dave Pasch and analyst Kurt Warner.
Viewers took to social media to express their frustration, with many feeling that Kelce spoke too much, limiting opportunities for Warner, a Hall of Fame quarterback, to contribute. Comments indicated that Kelce's commentary was overwhelming, at times interrupting plays and overshadowing the play-by-play calls. Some viewers suggested that the booth would be better suited as a two-man unit with Pasch and Kelce, while others felt Kelce's extensive talking prevented Warner from speaking.
"3 guys in that booth and it him talking 80% of the time," one viewer wrote. Another commented, "I haven’t even heard Kurt Warner say a word." The sentiment was echoed by others who felt Kelce's constant commentary made it difficult to follow the game or hear from Warner.
Kelce, who spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles, also faced accusations of bias toward his former team. The Eagles, who were dealing with injuries, took the lead in the first half.
"Jason Kelce cannot do Eagles games," one fan posted. "Clear bias and won’t stop talking." Another described Kelce's commentary as akin to "the drunk uncle that shouldn’t be allowed near a microphone... and just starts rambling."
This marks Kelce's second consecutive week in the broadcast booth. His debut occurred the previous weekend during the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders.
