Jason Dohring, known for his role as Logan Echolls in "Veronica Mars," has pivoted from Hollywood to a career in farming, driven by a desire to improve food quality. The 44-year-old actor, who has four children, acquired three farms and has dedicated significant time to this new pursuit, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dohring explained on the "Don't Do Nothing" podcast that his interest in farming grew from gardening. He became concerned about the health impacts of the food people consume, stating, "We're just making great food for people 'cause I really realized that people are getting sick from the food that they're eating." He emphasized the potential for exceptional flavor and the artistry involved in farm design.

Following the original "Veronica Mars" series' conclusion in 2007, Dohring reprised his role in a 2014 movie and a 2019 Hulu series. However, his farming endeavors took precedence, leading him to inform his agents of his intention to focus on agriculture for a period.

He has been actively involved in farming, personally planting approximately 3,500 trees on a 14-acre property in West Virginia. These include cold-weather fruits like apples, pears, peaches, cherries, and nectarines, which require specific climate conditions not found in his home state of Florida. Dohring highlighted his commitment to organic practices, noting that his farms have not used chemical sprays, stating, "We haven’t sprayed once on our farm. And we’re doing it with great success."

Dohring, a Scientologist who resides near the church's headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, views farming as an art and a way to contribute positively. He aims to grow food for 5,000 people and establish a market catering to consumers who prioritize high-quality food, likening it to a premium wine club but for exceptional food products.

While his focus has shifted, Dohring has not entirely abandoned acting. He recently participated in a short film as a favor, expressing that he still appreciates art and creative endeavors. He believes in a universal human drive for aesthetics and creation, stating, "I think there’s something in everybody that is aesthetic, meaning beautiful, or wants to create."
