Jasmine Stefanovic, wife of television personality Karl Stefanovic, has reached out to Sarah Abo, her husband's former 'Today' show co-host, following reports that Abo felt 'betrayed' by Stefanovic's decision to feature far-right extremist Tommy Robinson on his podcast. This interview was reportedly a factor in Stefanovic's subsequent exit from the Nine network.

Abo, who is heavily pregnant, recently shared photos of her baby shower on social media. Jasmine Stefanovic commented on the post, writing "Beautiful" with two heart emojis.

Reports suggest that Karl Stefanovic's departure from Nine in June, following the podcast interview which was briefly available before being deleted, was a significant blow to Sarah Abo, described by TV insiders as his "long-time colleague" and "loyal wingwoman."

The 'Today' show's decision to platform Tommy Robinson, who has a history of controversial statements on Islam, immigration, and Australian politics, was seen as particularly problematic given Abo's background as a first-generation immigrant from Syria. Robinson himself has faced legal issues, including a conviction for breaching a court order related to defamation claims made against him concerning a Syrian refugee.

Despite having six months remaining on his contract, Stefanovic's interview with Robinson led to his removal from the network, a move reportedly aimed at mitigating an advertiser boycott.

Sources close to Abo have described her situation with Stefanovic as "very awkward" and a "betrayal," particularly given her personal history and impending motherhood. Abo is reportedly weeks away from welcoming a child with her husband, Cyrus Moran, after experiencing two miscarriages. She was preparing to go on maternity leave soon after the reports of Stefanovic's podcast controversy surfaced.

Stefanovic and Abo had developed a close working relationship on the 'Today' desk since Abo joined in 2022. Insiders noted that Stefanovic had witnessed Abo's struggles with fertility, and she had been a supporter of his. The decision to platform Robinson, who holds anti-immigration views, at a time when Abo is about to become a mother, was seen by some as a profound insensitivity and a breach of their professional and personal trust.
