Jared Verse Declares 'No Respect' for Steelers After Browns' Victory

Cleveland Browns defensive end Jared Verse has declared a lack of respect for the Pittsburgh Steelers following his team's hard-fought 27-24 victory on Thursday night. The win propelled the Browns to a 3-1 record and sole possession of the AFC North lead.

"This ain’t the old Browns," Verse stated after the game. "We’ve got new swag. We’re a lot more aggressive, a lot more, you know, getting after it. This is something different here. We’re going to make this whole city rock."

The game was marked by a physical and chippy tone, with the Browns accumulating 14 penalties for 88 yards. Verse suggested that the Steelers initiated the antagonistic exchanges.

"They were talking crazy," Verse told reporters. "I was telling them, ‘You’re double-teaming, y’all sliding, y’all garbage.’ I don’t got no respect for anyone who plays dirty and does extra sh-t after the game."

Despite a late penalty by Verse that led to the Steelers tying the game at 24 with 1:42 remaining, quarterback Deshaun Watson led a drive that set up the game-winning field goal. Cornerback Denzel Ward, who recorded one of Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers' two interceptions, expressed confidence.

"I hope he keeps throwing at me," Ward said.

While the Steelers now sit at 2-2, the Browns have secured three consecutive wins. Coach Todd Monken acknowledged the team's success but stressed the need for continued improvement.

"It’s still only three [wins]," Monken said. "And there’s a lot of things we can continue to get better at, and we will, because our guys are humble and they’re still hungry. And it’s really cool, because it means the next one continues to matter."

The Browns and Steelers are set to face each other again in Week 8 at Pittsburgh on Nov. 1.

Linebacker Quincy Williams summarized the team's mindset: "They be barking. We be biting. That’s it."
