Actor Jared Padalecki deleted well wishes he had posted for Perez Hilton after facing significant backlash from fans who informed him of the controversial blogger's history of harmful behavior. Hilton was hospitalized last Tuesday following a severe mental health crisis.

Padalecki, 44, had initially tweeted on Saturday, encouraging the 48-year-old Hilton to "surround yourself" with "love and support" after Hilton suffered a mental health crisis during a livestream that led to his TikTok account being banned. Hilton, born Mario Lavandeira, was hospitalized for self-harm.

Fans quickly reminded Padalecki of Hilton's past actions, which have included vicious bullying, outing LGBTQIA celebrities, and speculating on personal health and pregnancy issues. In response to the criticism, Padalecki, who has 14.3 million social media followers, removed his original post.

He later tweeted on Sunday, "I didn't know. It's been brought to my attention. I'm sorry." He added, "I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about his past." Padalecki stated he had only heard that Hilton had not been kind to him previously and that his default is to offer grace and forgiveness. "That having been said, I TRULY didn't know ANYTHING about the extent to what he has done. That's my bad," he wrote. "I DO NOT stand for, or support, ANY of the actions I just now found out that he has committed. Full stop. I'm sorry if my words caused any harm."

Padalecki has spoken publicly about his own struggles with suicidal ideation, including checking into a mental health clinic in 2015. He later launched the "Always Keep Fighting" campaign to support individuals dealing with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.

Hilton's family confirmed on his website that he remains hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act. A statement indicated his condition is serious but stable, noting he experienced significant blood loss and will require further surgery. The statement also expressed gratitude that Hilton was able to spend time with his mother and sister.

Padalecki is next scheduled to appear at Fan Expo Chicago in August and will star in the upcoming Netflix holiday rom-com "Guarding Stars."
