Four women have accused actor and musician Jared Leto of criminal sexual misconduct, with the alleged offenses occurring when the accusers were between the ages of 16 and 19. The allegations, detailed in a new BBC documentary titled 'Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret,' span from 2002 to 2016.
One woman claims she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom at age 17. Another alleges that Leto, now 54, threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19 and they were alone in a hotel room. A third accuser states she engaged in underage sex with Leto in California at age 17, which would be classified as statutory rape, alleging that he dismissed concerns about the age of consent.
The fourth accuser claims she was groomed by Leto, who she says abused his celebrity status through repeated sexually explicit phone calls when she was 16. She alleges that on at least one occasion, he suggested they should have sex. This accuser reportedly received a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to prevent her from discussing her relationship with Leto, but she refused to sign it.
In total, 10 women came forward for the documentary, with nine sharing their stories publicly for the first time. Other accusations include receiving strange and sexual phone calls and, in one instance, an alleged lewd comment about a 14-year-old's chest during an autograph signing. The accuser's mother reportedly confronted Leto, who allegedly repeated the comment.
Leto has not yet responded to the allegations. Representatives for the actor have been approached for comment by The Daily Mail.
