Actress Jane Horrocks has reported that her suitcase was stolen during a recent train journey from Manchester to London. Horrocks, known for her role in "Absolutely Fabulous," took to social media platform X to criticize Avanti West Coast, alleging that two individuals without valid tickets were permitted to stay on the train, and subsequently stole her belongings.
"Shame on Avanti for not protecting their customers," Horrocks stated on X, sharing her experience. The train operator's social media team responded, inquiring if she had reported the incident to the British Transport Police, to which Horrocks confirmed she had.
This incident follows other recent public criticisms of Avanti West Coast. Actress Davinia Taylor also shared a negative experience, describing train staff at London Euston as "horrible and inhuman" after she claimed she was denied entry to a train despite arriving three minutes before its departure.
Taylor recounted sprinting to the platform with heavy suitcases for her train to Birmingham, only to be told by staff that she had arrived too late. She stated that the platform was empty and that staff appeared to dismiss her situation, forcing her to purchase a new ticket for a later service. In a now-deleted social media post, Taylor expressed frustration with what she perceived as unhelpful and "passive aggressive" behavior from some travel industry employees.
An Avanti West Coast spokesperson indicated that the company is investigating the circumstances of Taylor's reported experience.
