The accuser in the "Cornell 7" sexual assault case, identified as Jane Doe, has reported being repeatedly targeted by "swatting" incidents, including one where police held her boyfriend and brother at gunpoint after responding to a false report of a mass shooter at her family home. Her attorney confirmed the events, which were detailed in reports obtained by The New Yorker.
On October 6, an anonymous male caller contacted 911 with Doe's address, claiming to be inside her family's home, having already shot his mother and threatening his sister, according to police reports. Responding officers encountered a vehicle leaving the driveway and ordered the two occupants out at gunpoint. These individuals were later identified as Doe's brother and boyfriend.
Doe's father emerged from the house to identify himself and explain the situation, informing officers that his daughter was the victim in the "Cornell 7" rape case and that the family was receiving threats. While officers were still on the scene, the swatter reportedly called 911 again, falsely claiming to be armed with an AR-15 and threatening to kill everyone inside.
According to reports, Doe's family has experienced multiple false emergency calls in recent weeks, including reports of a house fire and threats of a bomb. In response, the family has resorted to taping paper over their windows. Doe's attorney, Thomas Giuffra, stated that she has received hundreds of death threats via phone, text, and social media since filing her lawsuit in late September.
Doe alleges that she was sexually assaulted by seven Chi Phi fraternity members at a party on October 19, 2024. The seven individuals have denied the allegations. While two students were expelled from Cornell University in connection with the incident, none of the accused have faced criminal charges. Doe claims that Cornell University, campus police, and Tompkins County authorities did not take her complaint seriously, declining to press charges and stating that her account did not indicate non-consensual sexual activity.
