Television personalities Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo described a frightening incident where their home was searched by police officers, accompanied by sniffer dogs, in the early hours of the morning. The couple shared the experience on their podcast, 'NewlyParents,' detailing how they were woken at 1 a.m. by four officers at their front door.
The police presence was reportedly a response to a house alarm going off at the residence of an unnamed, high-profile celebrity in their neighborhood. Laing described the event as "absolutely terrifying" and "pretty scary," noting the disconcerting experience of having police officers enter their home.
Sophie Habboo recalled the initial confusion, stating they were unsure what was happening as officers inspected their garden and jumped over the gate. After a brief check, the officers departed, reporting no one present at the neighboring property.
Laing mentioned that after the initial police search, he and Habboo requested officers return to search their basement for any suspicious activity. This subsequent search involved sniffer dogs, which Laing described as large and intimidating.
This incident follows previous security concerns for Laing. In March, he revealed that his west London home was almost burgled, and just a week later, he was the victim of another attempted robbery where intruders attempted to break into his home. Separately, his car was broken into outside his home, with the thieves leaving behind a pineapple and a melon, a detail Laing speculated might be a calling card.
The couple, known for their roles in 'Made in Chelsea,' previously resided in Chelsea before purchasing a family home in Notting Hill. Reflecting on a past home invasion, Laing recounted hearing loud noises around 5:45 a.m. and discovering individuals attempting to break into the flat below his own. He described feeling panicked and calling the police, inquiring about response times and whether they should evacuate their home.
