James Talarico Campaign Addresses 'Hoax' Claims Amidst Candidate's Absence
A Texas Senate candidate's 10-day campaign hiatus sparked rumors, with a released recording aiming to clarify the situation.
Texas Senate candidate James Talarico has faced scrutiny following a 10-day absence from the campaign trail during a critical election period. Reports and rumors circulated regarding his whereabouts and the reasons for his unexplained leave.
In his last public appearance on September 30, Talarico communicated with Hispanic voters via Zoom, stating he could not attend an event in person due to the flu. He subsequently canceled an October 5 event with black voters in Austin.
Amidst these absences, Republicans claimed Talarico was being discharged from a mental health hospital in Ohio. Talarico, however, later responded to these allegations, asserting they were false and that he was a patient at a mental health unit in Ohio.
Contrary to the Republican claims, Talarico was reportedly seen at the Kacey Musgraves concert at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas on Saturday night. He eventually resurfaced at the festival after a 13-day absence from the campaign trail.
The campaign has sought to address what it describes as a "hoax" surrounding Talarico's absence, with a six-minute recording reportedly aiming to provide clarity on the situation.
