The misdemeanor charge of unlawful carrying of weapons against Cleveland Cavaliers guard James Harden has been dismissed, according to court records. The case stemmed from a June arrest in Houston.
Harris County, Texas prosecutors filed a motion to dismiss the case, citing Harden's completion of an "alternative resolution agreement." A judge approved the motion on Thursday.
Harden was taken into custody on June 13 by the Houston Police Department following a traffic stop. Officers allegedly found an unholstered firearm in plain view in his vehicle. Harden, an 11-time All-Star, did not publicly comment on the arrest at the time.
The Cavaliers organization stated they were "aware" of the situation on the day of the incident and were "gathering additional information." The team added that they were in contact with Harden and his representation and would monitor developments.
Harden previously played nine seasons of his NBA career in Houston before joining the Cavaliers this past season. He had played for the Clippers for over two years prior to his move to Cleveland.
