Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville has embraced the term “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” a label often used by supporters of Donald Trump to dismiss his critics. Carville, speaking on his podcast “Politics War Room,” stated tongue-in-cheek that he possesses this condition and wishes for it to intensify.

“I got it, and I want it, and I want it to get worse,” Carville said. “If I could take a pill that would help me hate that motherfucker more and obsess on him more, I would take that pill.”

Carville dismissed the notion that being intensely focused on the state of the United States, particularly concerns about corruption, is an unhealthy obsession. “There’s something wrong with people that are obsessed about the state of the United States, that believe that this country is in the midst of a corruption like it’s never experienced before,” he stated.

He further elaborated on his stance, suggesting that individuals who still support Trump or believe in finding the good in him are misguided. “If you still with Trump or you still think this, ‘Well, we got to try to see the good in him,’ then you’re a fucking idiot,” Carville asserted.

Carville reiterated his dedication to opposing Trump, expressing a deep personal animosity. “I hate the son of a bitch. I hate what he’s doing to this country,” he said. “I’m obsessed with it. I can’t sleep at night. I get distracted. Sometimes, I think I got to call my physician or shrink and say, ‘You got to give me something, man. I got to calm down.’ But I don’t want to do it because I got a disease. I like the disease, and I’m going to keep it, and I hope I get rid of it sometimes around, oh, I don’t know, 2200 hours 3 November, 2026.”
