Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville unleashed a scathing critique of Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, questioning the senator's intelligence and suitability for office. During an appearance on Ari Melber’s MS NOW show “The Beat,” Carville responded to Melber’s observation that some Republicans, ahead of the 2026 midterms, seem to be avoiding pressing issues in favor of distracting rhetoric.

Melber highlighted Tuberville’s recent widely criticized comments, in which the Alabama senator claimed, without evidence, that furries were infiltrating the commercial airline industry. When asked if these remarks stemmed from desperation or a deliberate distraction tactic, Carville expressed strong disapproval.

"Sen. Tuberville, is he dumber than concrete or is he dumber than a box of rocks?" Carville asked. He continued, drawing parallels between the senator's name and a potato, suggesting it was an apt description of his perceived lack of intelligence. Carville, identifying as a Southerner and a football fan, stated, “Every time I see that guy, I just want to call under the table, ‘Man, shut up!’ You’re embarrassing the whole region of the country, not just good people of Alabama, anybody that has anything to do with it.” He concluded his assessment by saying, “That boy ain’t right at all. Not at all.”
