James Bourne Awaits Life-Extending Surgery Amid Ongoing Health Concerns

Busted member James Bourne, 43, has stated that he is still awaiting surgery intended to extend his life, addressing speculation that the procedure has already taken place. In a recent update on X, formerly Twitter, Bourne clarified, "I haven’t had any surgery yet. Some people forward me articles saying it’s been done, which isn’t true. I wish it had, I should know more information soon."

Bourne's health issues led him to withdraw from Busted's tour with McFly last year, just hours before a scheduled performance in Birmingham. In April, he had disclosed that he was preparing for "major surgery to extend his life," expressing that "there is hope."

Recently, Bourne was seen in London with Matthew Koma, husband of "Lizzie McGuire" star Hilary Duff. Koma is in London with Duff, who is performing as part of her "The Lucky Me Tour."

Bourne had previously indicated in July that he would provide an update on his health via his Spotify bio. He wrote, "As I'm taking a break from the gram, I'll be posting an update soon about what's going on with my health in my Spotify bio. It's a long story. Still not out of the woods yet. Thanks for your support and patience."

The period of stepping back from public life allowed Bourne to work on a new album, "Murder at the Gates," which he created for a new musical with playwright Steven Sater. He released the record on July 1, stating his desire not to let his health prevent him from promoting the project, into which he had invested 13 years of work.

Bourne's bandmate Matt Willis had previously commented on his health, telling Good Morning Britain that Bourne was "not very well, but he's getting better" and "on the mend." Willis explained that Bourne fell ill shortly before the tour began, necessitating his withdrawal.

In a statement prior to the tour's commencement, Bourne had announced his need to step away from performing due to health reasons. "The VS tour kicks off tomorrow night in Birmingham and as excited as l've been all year for this tour to begin," he wrote on Instagram. "I'm really sorry to say that over the last 8 days it has become clear that I am not in good enough health to play these shows. There's a lot of information I still don't have about my condition but my bandmates, management and I are unanimous in deciding that I should focus on the medical stuff for now."

Busted and McFly embarked on a joint tour throughout September, October, and November of the previous year.
