James Bourne Appears in London Amid Health Battle
Busted singer James Bourne, who underwent 'major surgery to extend his life,' was photographed with Matthew Koma in London.
Busted's James Bourne, 43, was seen in London alongside Matthew Koma, husband of Hilary Duff. This sighting comes after Bourne revealed in April that he was preparing for significant surgery aimed at extending his life, while expressing hope for recovery.
Bourne, known for hits like "Year 3000," had previously withdrawn from Busted's tour with McFly shortly before a performance in Birmingham, citing health reasons. He shared an update on his health via his Spotify bio in July, explaining that he was taking a break from social media to focus on his recovery. At the time, he indicated that his condition was serious and he was not yet out of the woods.
Despite his health challenges, Bourne has been active creatively. He released the album "Murder At The Gates" on July 1, a project he developed for a new musical with playwright Steven Sater. He stated that he did not want his health issues to prevent him from promoting the musical, which he had invested 13 years of his life into.
Bourne's bandmate Matt Willis had previously provided an update on "Good Morning Britain," stating that Bourne was "not very well, but he's getting better" and was "on the mend."
In a statement announcing his withdrawal from the tour, Bourne expressed his regret and hope for a return. He wrote on Instagram, "The VS tour kicks off tomorrow night in Birmingham and as excited as I've been all year for this tour to begin. I'm really sorry to say that over the last 8 days it has become clear that I am not in good enough health to play these shows."
He added that while he did not have all the information about his condition, he, his bandmates, and management agreed that he should prioritize his medical treatment. He concluded, "I really hope I can be in a position to come back further down the line. It's still going to be an amazing show and I will miss being there! See you all as soon as possible."
Bourne's Instagram account was mysteriously deleted earlier this year. Matthew Koma is currently in London with his wife Hilary Duff, who is performing as part of her "The Lucky Me Tour."
