Singer James Blunt has refuted claims that he was the "very famous undressed man" Hayden Panettiere described in her memoir. Panettiere, who died in August at age 36, recounted an incident in her book "This Is Me: A Reckoning" where she was placed in a bed next to an unidentified, well-known man on a yacht when she was 18.
Blunt, 52, shared a link on X, formerly Twitter, to a Substack article by journalist Dean Piper that directly addresses and debunks the rumors. Piper's article, titled "Hayden Panettiere and James Blunt – An Internet Lynching," argues that the timeline of events does not align with Blunt being the individual Panettiere referred to.
According to Piper, photographs of Blunt and Panettiere together at the amfAR charity event in Cannes in May 2009, and on a boat the following day, have fueled speculation. However, Piper points out that Panettiere would have been 19 at the time of the amfAR event, not 18 as stated in her memoir for the yacht incident. He also noted that Panettiere described the encounter as a one-time event with a man she met for the first and last time, which contrasts with her being seen with Blunt on multiple occasions.
