Jameis Winston's Past Allegations Resurface as He Starts for Giants

New York Giants starting quarterback Jameis Winston is facing renewed attention regarding past allegations, including a sexual assault claim, a college shoplifting incident, and a lewd tabletop episode. These events from his college and early professional career have resurfaced as he assumes the starting role for the Giants following an injury to Jaxson Dart.

Winston was accused of sexual assault by a former Florida State University student, Erica Kinsman, in 2012. The Tallahassee Police Department investigated the claim, and the case was later closed. Winston maintained his innocence throughout the investigation.

During his time at Florida State, where he won the Heisman Trophy in December 2013 and the national championship in 2014, Winston was also involved in a shoplifting incident. He received probation for misdemeanor theft in that case. Additionally, he faced disciplinary action for a lewd on-campus speech.

Winston's career in the NFL has included stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns, and now the Giants. He has also been a public figure who has spoken out on controversial topics, notably issuing a defense of quarterback Deshaun Watson in 2024 amid Watson's own legal issues.

Winston and his wife, Breion, have two sons. He is currently navigating the spotlight as the Giants' starting quarterback, with his past allegations drawing renewed scrutiny.
