New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson announced Thursday that he has been fully cleared to return to basketball activities, just in time for the team's training camp. The announcement came during a live podcast event hosted by Brunson and teammate Josh Hart.
Brunson underwent surgery in early July to repair a tendon issue in his left shooting wrist. He played through the injury during the Knicks' championship run, which concluded with an NBA Finals MVP award for Brunson. While he spent much of the summer in a cast, his clearance means he can participate in five-on-five play as training camp begins.
The Knicks' training camp is scheduled to start Tuesday in Tarrytown. The news of Brunson's clearance was met with "MVP" chants from the crowd at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, where the live podcast, titled the "Roommates Show Block Party," was held.
The event also featured guests Jose Alvarado and Landry Shamet, who discussed their recent contract re-signings with the Knicks. Alvarado agreed to a three-year, $14 million deal, while Shamet signed a four-year, $24 million contract.
