Jake Reiner, son of the late film director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, has married his girlfriend Maria Gilfillan in a private ceremony. The nuptials occurred approximately eight months after his parents were fatally stabbed in their Brentwood, California home on December 14, 2025. His brother, Nick Reiner, 32, has been charged in connection with the double murder.

Sources confirmed to TMZ that the wedding took place earlier this month. Last week, Jake was seen wearing a wedding band during his first television interview since his parents' deaths. He had previously alluded to his grief in an April Substack post, writing, "My parents won’t be at my wedding, they won’t get to hold their future grandchild, and they won’t get to see me have the successful career I’m still seeking." He added, "It simultaneously breaks my heart and enrages me."

In an interview with ABC7 on August 27, Jake described the time since his parents' death as feeling both like "eight years at the same time, and it also feels like eight minutes." He recounted receiving a call from his sister, Romy, on December 14, who initially told him their father was dead before saying she could not find their mother. Jake stated that he and his sister Romy are now left to navigate life without their parents, as Nick is incarcerated.

Rob Reiner was a celebrated Hollywood director known for films such as "This Is Spinal Tap," "Stand By Me," and "A Few Good Men." He met Michele Singer, a photographer, during the production of "When Harry Met Sally."

Nick Reiner was arrested near the University of Southern California campus within hours of his parents' deaths and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. An indictment unsealed on August 12 alleged that Nick was lying in wait before fatally stabbing his parents with a knife. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Nick Reiner has recently sought access to funds from a trust established by his parents, arguing the money is necessary for his defense. A petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court claims that the trustees have denied him access to over $1.6 million without legal justification. Half of the trust was due to Nick on his 30th birthday in September 2023 but was not paid out, according to the petition. During a court hearing last Monday, it was revealed that $200,000 of the trust had already been spent. Nick's legal team is reportedly seeking to rehire his initial defense attorney. A pretrial hearing for the murder charges is scheduled for September 15, with a hearing regarding the trust money set for October 23.

Jake Reiner stated that he is continuing to honor his parents' legacy by working with the Children's Institute foundation, which they strongly supported. He is scheduled to attend the foundation's gala on November 8 in their place, acknowledging that the event, like other post-tragedy milestones, will be difficult.
