Missé Beqiri, the ex-partner of the late reality television star Jake Hall, has shared the profound difficulty of informing their eight-year-old daughter, River, about Hall's death. In a recent interview, Beqiri described the moment as the "worst thing she's ever had to do," reflecting on the "awful shock" of his passing.
Hall, known for his appearances on The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), died last month at the age of 35. His death occurred after sustaining fatal injuries from smashing his head through a glass door at a villa in Santa Margalida, Mallorca.
Beqiri, who is also a star of The Real Housewives of Cheshire, recounted how receiving the news of Hall's death was the "worst phone call of her life." She expressed the surreal nature of the event, stating, "Even today, I keep thinking: 'Is this really happening?'" She recalled the moment she was informed by Hall's family, saying, "I remember that I kept saying: 'There's no way,' and then everything went black. I can't remember any of it."
The immediate concern for Beqiri was how to break the news to their daughter. "The shock was awful. The first person I thought about was River. How can I tell her that her dad is gone? I kept thinking: 'I don't know if I am able to do this,'" she told The Sun. She described River's reaction as understandably "upset" and noted the challenges of processing such a loss at a young age. "We're trying to keep her in her routine, but when I took her back to school, she said: 'Do people know I don't have a dad now?' It's so much for her little brain to process."
River is currently receiving therapy to help her cope with the event. This is not the first significant loss Beqiri has experienced; she also lost her brother, Flamur Beqiri, seven years ago. He was fatally shot by a hired assassin on Christmas Eve in 2019.
Beqiri recently paid tribute to both Hall and her brother on Father's Day, sharing a photograph of them together. She wrote, "Two men, dads, sons, brothers. Today it's Father's Day and I'm honouring these two fathers, my brother Alex and Jake... I love you both and I know you're watching over us and the babies. Our hearts are broken and at the same time I laugh because that's all you guys ever did... Life is very short, and sometimes we forget to look around us and say thank you, so Thank you. If it's one thing you can do today is that I've learned that my family; children, friends and kids are everything... I am beyond grateful for them, for this community an each one of you who has thought of our family in this difficult times. So much respect. So much love and gratitude. Til we meet again."
Jake Hall and Beqiri were previously engaged but later co-parented their daughter. Hall gained fame on TOWIE in 2015 and was a regular on the series until 2018. Following his death, his family organized an "unconventional" funeral that included an exhibition of his art and a tribute to his fashion career. His family has also announced plans to launch The Choose Everything Foundation in his memory, with proceeds directed towards its formation and for his daughter River.
