Jake Bauers, named the National League Championship Series (NLCS) MVP, highlighted his pivotal home run in Game 3 as his most memorable at-bat during the Milwaukee Brewers' sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Brewers secured their first World Series appearance in 44 years with a 6-4 victory in Game 4 at Dodger Stadium.
Bauers' Game 3 home run came after an intense 11-pitch battle against Dodgers starter Blake Snell. "That's a special one. I'll never forget that," Bauers stated, with his family present during the team's on-field celebrations.
The first baseman, now in his fifth team's career, has emerged as a leader for the Brewers. In his turnaround season, Bauers hit 26 home runs and recorded 86 RBIs. His performance in the NLCS also included a two-run double in Game 4 that narrowed the Dodgers' lead and a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning to tie the game.
Bauers attributed his recent success to a newfound confidence, stemming from overcoming past struggles. "I've been through a lot. Been through a lot in this game. Doubted myself a ton, and somewhere along the way, I just let it go. I chose to be confident. I chose to believe in myself," he explained.
When asked about maintaining composure in high-pressure situations, Bauers emphasized accepting the possibility of mistakes and periods of difficulty. He advised against trying too hard, suggesting instead to "let the game come to me as much as I can, and just meet it where I can."
Bauers' father, Stu Bauers, also shared in the pride of his son's achievement, noting that he wore his "Rake Bauers" T-shirt to each of the Brewers' four games in the series.
