Jaime King has addressed the absence of herself and her son, Leo, from Taylor Swift's recent wedding to Travis Kelce. King's publicist, Jane Owen, stated that Leo, Swift's godson, was deemed "still too young for a large adult wedding celebration." However, Owen added that King and Leo "were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce's marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break."

The publicist also emphasized that King chose Swift as Leo's godmother because "being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances." Swift became Leo's godmother in 2015, following a close friendship that developed in the 2010s. King's then-husband, Kyle Newman, directed the music video for Swift's song "Style" in 2014.

Swift and Kelce's wedding ceremony took place at Madison Square Garden with approximately 1,000 guests. Notable attendees included Kelce's brother Jason, who served as best man, and his daughters, who were flower girls. The ceremony was officiated by friend Adam Sandler, with performances by Sir Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks. Other celebrity guests included Karlie Kloss, Hugh Grant, Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, and Dakota Johnson.

The relationship between King and Swift has reportedly cooled since the mid-2010s. In March of the previous year, reports indicated that the two were no longer close and did not maintain regular contact. However, a source mentioned that Swift still sent gifts to her godson and would be available if King needed her. The shift in their friendship status followed King's lengthy custody battle with Newman over their two children, Leo and James. In March of the previous year, Newman was granted sole physical custody, with King's visits requiring supervision until she completed a mandated drug and alcohol program.
