Actress Jaime King has clarified the status of her friendship with singer Taylor Swift following speculation that her son, Leo Newman – whom Swift is a godmother to – was not present at Swift's recent wedding to Travis Kelce. King's publicist, Jane Owen, stated that the decision for Leo not to attend was based on his age and the nature of the event.

"The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’s godmother is because they both believe that being a Godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearances," Owen told Page Six. "Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration, but he and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce’s marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break."

Swift's representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The statement follows reports that none of Swift's five godchildren, including Leo, attended the wedding festivities with Kelce. Sources indicated that the only children present were the flower girls, who were Jason Kelce's daughters.

King and Swift met at a 2014 Golden Globes party, and King asked the pop star to be Leo's godmother a year later. King's now-ex-husband, Kyle Newman, directed Swift's 2015 music video for "Style."

In April 2025, a source told Page Six that King and Swift had "hadn’t been in touch for a long time" but that King hoped to "reconnect at some point" and continue their friendship.

Swift and Kelce's wedding ceremony took place at Madison Square Garden on July 3, with over 1,000 guests in attendance. The exterior of the venue was illuminated with pink digital screens displaying "JUST&T MARRIED!" Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, confirmed that the singer wore a Christian Dior haute couture gown and that Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. Austin Swift served as his sister's "man of honor," and Jason Kelce was the best man. Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August 2025.
